Duel
How does a duel work?
You and your opponent take turns on one shared board. On your turn, tap any arrow whose path is clear (the bright ones). It slides off and you score its length. When the board is empty, the higher score wins. Blocked taps don't cost anything in a duel.
Why does the second player get extra points?
Going first is a small advantage, so whoever moves second gets a small bonus of 1.5 to 2.5 points (shown under their score). Against the computer you always start, and the early opponents also give you a head start.
How do the computer opponents work?
There are 25 opponents, then the Grandmaster. Each one looks further ahead and makes fewer mistakes than the last. Win to unlock the next one and earn up to 3 stars for a big win. If you lose to the same opponent a few times in a row, it eases off a little until you beat it.
How do online duels work?
Open Duel and pick Online. Quick match pairs you with anyone else who is searching; Create room gives you a 4-letter code a friend enters with Join room. Both phones get the same board, and each move has 30 seconds – if time runs out, the game takes your longest free arrow for you. After a duel, both players can tap Rematch for a new board where the other player starts. Online duels are free, need an internet connection, and have no hints.
Who will I play online?
Other Arrow Escape players. You appear under a generated callsign like "Comet-42" – there are no names, chat or profiles. If nobody else is searching, the game offers a duel against the computer instead.
How do duel hints work?
Tap Hint on your turn and a strong move will blink. Free players get 2 hints per duel; with Arrow Escape Plus they are unlimited.
Solo puzzles
How does the game work?
Tap an arrow to slide it off the board in the direction its head points. It can only leave if every cell in front of its head is empty. Long arrows bend, and their body follows the head like a train. Clear every arrow to finish the level.
What are the hearts for?
Tapping an arrow that is blocked costs one heart. You have three hearts per board. If you run out, tap Try again to restart the same board.
Is every puzzle solvable?
Yes. Every board is generated so that a solution always exists. If you're stuck, try the arrows whose path to the edge is completely clear, or use a hint.
How do hints work?
Tap Hint and one arrow that can leave right now will blink. Free players get one hint per level – restarting the board doesn't give another one. With Arrow Escape Plus, hints are unlimited.
What do Restart and New do?
Restart puts the current board back to how it started, refills your hearts and resets the clock. New (Arrow Escape Plus) gives you a different random board at the same level.
Personal best times
How does the timer work?
The clock starts on your first tap, not when the board appears, so you can look first. It pauses while the app is in the background. There's no countdown – it only measures how long you took.
What counts as a personal best?
Your fastest clear of each level. Every level is a fixed board, the same every time, so you can come back and beat your time. Runs where you used a hint or lost a heart still count. Random boards from the New button are timed but not recorded.
What does Flawless mean?
You cleared the level without losing a heart and without using a hint. Levels you've cleared flawlessly show a ✨ next to your best time.
How do I replay a level?
Tap LEVEL at the top of the screen to see every level you've reached with your best times, and tap one to play it again. After clearing a board you can also tap Replay. Replaying doesn't change your progress.
Purchases
What is free, and what is Arrow Escape Plus?
Duel opponents 1 to 10, two-player and online duels and puzzle levels 1 to 15 are free, and you can replay them as often as you like. Arrow Escape Plus is a one-time in-app purchase that unlocks every duel opponent, unlimited hints, unlimited puzzle levels and fresh random boards with the New button. It is not a subscription and never renews.
I bought Plus but it's not unlocked. What should I do?
Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple Account you used to buy it and that you're online. Then open the purchase screen (the crown Plus button) and tap Restore Purchases.
I have a new iPhone. Do I need to buy again?
No. Install Arrow Escape, sign in with the same Apple Account, and tap Restore Purchases on the purchase screen. You will not be charged again.
How do I get a refund?
All payments are handled by Apple, so refunds are requested from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. We don't have access to your payment details and can't issue refunds directly.
A purchase says it's waiting for approval.
If Ask to Buy is turned on for your account, a family organiser needs to approve the purchase. Arrow Escape Plus unlocks automatically as soon as it's approved.
Progress and data
Is my progress saved?
Yes, your current level and best times are saved on your iPhone. They are not synced between devices, and deleting the app deletes them. Your Plus purchase is linked to your Apple Account, so it can always be restored.
Does the game need an internet connection?
No, puzzles and duels against the computer or a friend on one device work offline. An internet connection is only needed for online duels and to buy or restore Arrow Escape Plus.
Do you collect any data about me?
No personal data. Arrow Escape has no accounts, no ads and no analytics. Online duels use a random ID created on your device and a generated callsign, never your name or contact details. See our Privacy Policy for details.
